Meditation is more than just relaxing and taking a time out. The positive benefits of meditation are enormous, from better physical and mental health to feelings of energy and a happy and confident out look on life. If you are looking at ways to start meditating the best advice I can give you is to exercise a little bit of patience. The practice of meditation is a life long journey and mastering meditation is a process that will bring you much joy and happiness. Finding inner peace with meditation will help treat mental conditions such as depression, anxiety and stress, it is the perfect alternative to using dangerous mind altering drugs.

Dedicate some time every single day for your meditation sessions, soon you will be looking forward to this time and effects that it will bring.

Start off by sitting or laying in a comfortably where you will not be interrupted away from any noises or distractions. The easiest method is the focused breathing exercise that is extremely simple to use.

Close your eyes and slowly let your body relax. Focus on your breathing and the sound of your breathe. Take nice, deep long breathes that are consistent in pace, let the sound of your breathe and the air entering and releasing out of your lungs take your attention away from any thoughts or stress you may have.

You will have random thoughts pop into your mind, that’s perfectly natural, simply bring your attention back to your breathing, let this feeling take over your body.
After awhile you will begin to feel as if your body is becoming nice and relaxed. Bring your attention to your feet, tell your feet to relax, feel the sensation as your feet begin to relax completely, let this wonderful feeling spread up your legs, up your torso to your arms and legs.

You may begin to feel tingling sensations all over your body, this is completely naturally and it means your body is entering into complete relaxing, bask in this wonderful sensation and use this time to let your mind and body rest.

Don’t ever give up if you start to feel frustrated, meditation is well worth the initial struggle you may face. Your aim should be to do your best to silence your conscious mind and detach yourself from the stress and anxiety that modern can bring us. With some practice you will quickly be jumping at every chance to complete your meditation session. You don’t need to spend a lot of time when starting out, start with 15 minutes and slowly build up as time goes on.
