Does Positive Thinking Work?

Does positive thinking work? Yes, it works, but there is a big difference between Please Login or Register to see the link. and wishful thinking. There are so many people talking about positive thinking and how it is not working for them when in actuality they aren’t practicing positive thinking at all. What they are calling positive thinking is just wishful thinking.
What’s the difference, you ask? What is the difference between a positive thinker and a wishful thinker?
The wishful thinker: Sit’s on the couch watching TV, eating there third bowl of ice cream, dreaming about what it would be like to be thin and even tapes a picture of a swimsuit model on the mirror so she can long to know what it would feel like to be in that body.
The positive thinker: Sets time aside to visualize herself thinner, recites positive affirmations, sets a detailed goal, listens to her inner wisdom and takes the first step to getting healthy, tracks her progress and follows through with the knowing that a thinner, healthier life awaits her.
The wishful thinker: Sits at his desk and dreams of the perfect job. Sends out a few resumes, does just enough to get by at his current job because he hates it. Never takes any ideas to his boss because some day he will have a new job and this one doesn’t matter.
The positive thinker: Does his very best at his current job and makes the best of it. Sets time aside to Please Login or Register to see the link. his perfect job. Decides if that perfect job can be created in his current office, makes a plan of action, talks to his boss if he believes the job can be created in his current office. Looks for the perfect job, doesn’t settle for anything less unless it gets him closer to his dreams. He learns new skills, meets new people and is confident in the direction he is headed.
The wishful thinker: Dreams about her dream home. Looks at houses for sale and says one day I will live in a house like that.
The positive thinker: Visualizes exactly what her house will look like, makes a plan of action. Requests a copy of her credit report, writes the appropriate letters, makes phone calls, pays off debts, contacts a real estate agent and doesn’t settle for a house that is less than what she wants.
Does positive thinking work? I’m here to say it does. The example above about the house: this is my story. I had tens of thousands of dollars in debt from medical bills and a few other discrepancies on my credit report. I made phone calls and wrote letters, paid what needed to be paid by cutting out any extras. I contacted a real estate agent and I bought a house that even my agent said I shouldn’t have been able to buy because no lender would ever give a loan on a house that needed so much work. A house I could make my own though by doing the work myself was my dream.
From the day that I requested my credit report, to the day I closed on my new home was less than 6 months. That was three years ago. So, yes, positive thinking does work. Don’t just be a wishful thinker be a positive thinker. Don’t just dream your dreams, make them happen.
