How To Build On Your Success By Becoming More Decisive

August 28, 2010 by selfimprove

Are you the type of person that makes decisions quickly or do you find it difficult to make your mind up? When it comes to getting a job done and meeting a deadline your success can depend on the ability to be decisive. Many people fail to meet deadlines because of indecision. Not only do they let people affect their ability to make prompt and definite decisions but they hesitate due to factors involving their own decisiveness.

Procrastination is a weakness that many of us may face on a daily basis. The ability to be decisive when it comes to avoiding distractions is important if you are to succeed in reaching your potential. Too many people make excuses for not chasing their goals early on in life continuously putting their dreams to one side and saying they will come back to them when “the time is right”. However, you only have a chance of succeeding in reaching those aims if you start acting immediately. Coupled with techniques using Please Login or Register to see the link. learning to be decisive can be very powerful in finding success.
The biggest achievers of this world have shown that their success comes from fast decisive action and the ability to take stock of situations when things do not go to plan and to change decisions when necessary. Henry Ford was an example of someone who used his decision making ability to full effect. Some might say he was so determined when he made a decision that he was stubborn. His model T car was made despite the advice of many of his staff who said it would be the ugliest car around. Although this turned out to be partly correct and the car was not as successful as other models, Ford still stuck to his guns and made a fortune from the model. Now, regardless of what would have happened if he had scrapped it, Ford showed that by being strong minded and decisive he was able to make something succeed that most people doubted.

To become more decisive you need to be able to ignore the opinions of others. If you want to make sacrifices and chase your dream doing something that satisfies your inner desires, you need to listen to yourself and no one else. Friends and family may try to discourage you from your goals as they may think they know what is best for you. However, your burning desire to succeed at something should be all the encouragement you need to take those first steps towards achieving immediate goals.

One major problem with the education system is that it does not teach the youth about the working world enough. Too many students work their hearts out trying to get the best grades they can only to find that they have no idea what to do with themselves after graduating. Schools, colleges and universities do not encourage people to make decisions before they finish studying and so the habit of indecision stays with people as they go into work. It may be necessary to take any job straight away after leaving your studies behind you whilst you think about what you want to do with your future. However, many will find that they are stuck in that same job a year or more later and are unable to climb the career ladder.

You need to find the courage to make a definite decision about your future. You should sit down and analyze yourself, your strengths and weaknesses, what you think you are capable of and what you want to achieve in life. Then you must do your own research and not be held back by others or hold yourself back by procrastinating.

Personal Development: How To Handle The Crap In Your Brain

August 17, 2010 by selfimprove

Do you have crap in your head? Undoubtedly you have – we all have. However, if you’re paying attention to the crap in your head, you are just creating the crap that you have in your life. You are what you’re thinking. Unfortunately, it’s not just the thoughts that you’re aware of that create your life, it’s just a bit more subtle than that. Actually, more than anything else, you are what you’re thinking subconsciously. Your subconscious mind runs – or ruins – your life. All of your behavior, everything that you do, all your reactions and all your interactions – with those who are close to you, friends, colleagues and even with people who you don’t even know – are all dictated by your subconscious. And the big problem is that, because of the way your subconscious mind is wired, it all just happens automatically.

However, there’s an even bigger problem. Your subconscious mind is full of crap. It’s crap because it has nothing to do with who you are or what you’re supposed to be doing right here, right now. All this crap is a hangover from your childhood, when you were young and impressionable – from your formative years. And, even though all the automatic behavior happens subconsciously, every so often you’re actually aware of the crap. at times you might feel down, stressed, negative or depressed. You might believe that you’re useless, uneasy or inadequate. Sometimes, or in some situations, you might feel nervous or anxious. Maybe you feel that you lack self-confidence or that you’re suffering from low self-esteem. But this is just crap created by crap! This is the crap that has your life on hold – and you let this happen by paying attention, whether you’re aware of it or not, to the crap that’s buried in your head.

All this crap won’t go away – but you can choose whether or not you pay attention to it – either consciously or, in actual fact, subconsciously. That’s what personal development or self improvement is all about. You see, as a grown adult, you can actually take control of your subconscious mind – choose, in each moment, what you’ll pay your attention to. So you’ve got to decide to turn your attention to something real instead of letting your subconscious mind just lead you by the nose into an ever deepening vortex of crap. The only thing that’s really real in your life – the here and now. This is where you can really be the very best you if you could only stop paying attention to all the crap. Pay attention to now – to what you see, feel, hear, smell and taste. This focus will drag your subconscious (sometimes kicking and screaming) away from its natural obsession with all the unreal crap. Normally you don’t actually experience anything real because you see it through the fog of crap. You’ve got to clear the fog – it won’t clear on its own because it’s your personal fog. Clear the fog by realizing that it’s not there at all! There is no fog.

All that’s here is what is here just now. So teach yourself to experience your five senses – make sense of the here and now instead of nonsense. It’s life changing.

Read More About Finding Success With The Law Of Attraction

August 14, 2010 by selfimprove

If, like me, you found The Secret inspiring then you’ll want to know more. I found that after seeing the film I was excited by the concept but not really sure about how to systematically include it into everyday life. I’m sure there will be more people in my position and I will be looking for answers, posting what I find in my blog. For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about so far The Secret is a film which introduced many people, including me, to the concept of using the law of attraction to achieve goals in life. This concept is essentially saying that what you concentrate on and believe will happen will be mainifested. This could be success in any area of your life. I believe that the concept is the same as what some people call faith. I have started a search to find resources about putting the Please Login or Register to see the link. into practice.

One of the most common causes of a lack of faith is low self esteem. This can be overcome through a similar process to the one just mentioned. If you take the time to write down all your positive experiences and attributes and then read these to yourself daily, you will find that the repeated positive affirmations will reassure you of your accomplishments subconsciously and restore faith. The following few principles outline methods to help with faith and self confidence.

Firstly you need to realize that you have the ability to meet your main objectives in life. This means you need to be persistent at all times in chasing your aims even when there are signs of initial failure.

Secondly you must spend some time in the day just thinking positively about yourself and where you want to go in life. A mind dominated by positive thoughts will eventually express desirable physical actions

Thirdly you should have your ultimate dream goal written down and you must promise yourself that you will never give up trying to achieve that goal even if you are not, at that time, confident enough, you will be eventually.

Fourthly you should take advantage of others to achieve your goals. You will be able to succeed by putting the hard work in yourself which will make the rewards all the more sweeter. A negative attitude to people will not bring success. However, by making others believe in your ability you will reaffirm your self belief.

Repeat these principles and you will find that you are able to increasingly influence your subconscious mind. This process of positive thinking has been called auto-suggestion and is a key to the success of many. In short if you think that you will fail then it is likely that you will, but if you convince yourself that you will succeed then you have more chance of doing so. The people that win in today’s world are the ones that know they can.

The Keys To Happiness

August 5, 2010 by selfimprove

The purpose of life is to be happy – so says the Dalai Lama. Sadly, most people aren’t quite sure what happiness actually is. Does it mean being surrounded by lots of nice things – nice house, holiday home, fancy car, designer clothes, nice vacations? Because, it seems that over the last number of years, plenty of people fell into the trap of evaluating their happiness based on what they owned – and of judging their happiness by comparison to what others owned. Believe it or not, I had a client telephone me at one point to tell me that his wife was threatening to leave him because she said and I quote ‘The neighbors go on better holidays!’ Say goodbye, I said!

Happiness has nothing to do with having plenty of nice things – it doesn’t exclude them, but they are not the be all and end all. Happiness is about having happy times or, as I keep telling my clients, ‘being gurdy!’ It’s a feeling that you have that all is well with the world and your place in it. It is a sense of wanting for nothing – not wanting to go further on the wonderful adventure that is life’s rollercoaster – but simply of not wanting for anything right here right now.

Happiness is a now thing. Unfortunately, the normal mind is not present now, so it’s unable to experience happiness. Research confirms that the average mind is stuck in the past (in particular on the childhood experiences that have made us who we are) and focused in the future (either looking forward to a bit of excitement yet to come, wanting for something that we don’t have or worrying about something that we’d prefer not to happen). Given all the facts it’s pretty much impossible to be happy – other than very sporadically.

To be happy, you’ve got to become abnormal. Normal people couldn’t be bothered to turn up to their own lives – and there’s over seventy years’ research that proves this beyond a shadow of a doubt. To achieve effortless happiness ( including effortless success) you’re going to have to turn up to the here and now – the only time and place that life is lived. You’ll need a focused and attentive mind to be present – there are many different ways that you can develop your focus and ability to pay attention. However, your success and happiness depend upon it – they are directly linked to your ability to pay attention – again an ability that the normal mind will never master. You’ve got to relearn how to pay attention – it came naturally to you as a child when you experienced everything new with all of your five senses. To be happy and successful you’ve got to come to your senses all over again. Once you do, you won’t have to go in search of happiness – happiness will simply find you.

Be Real, Be Passionate, Take Risks! Posted By : Jennifer Stewart

June 1, 2010 by Oliver

Logic can be so seductive, and seem so sensible – and be so completely wrong, in the long run. Its easy to forget that any conclusion is only as good as the information that backs it. For example, take the logic that says if you want success you have to work out what people want, and provide it. Seems pretty sensible. Seems statistically supportable. But do statistics tell you everything? Should you live your life by them? Where does passion come in?

Handling Stress

May 31, 2010 by selfimprove

I recently spent a couple of days with a client here in the Alps – an individual who regards his Please Login or Register to see the link. as the major priority in his life, somebody who changed his daily routine, going to bed one hour earlier to ensure that he has an extra hour each morning for meditation. He has been regularly meditating for up to an hour every morning for the last couple of years. The benefits? His fitness and health have greatly improved. His mental focus at work and at home has become razor-sharp and he has recently discovered a new-found creativity – in terms of news ideas and problem solving. He is in “flow” .

However, some months back, he found himself confronted by a major career decision and, in the process, found himself reverting to the indecision and Please Login or Register to see the link. that had practically ruined his life some years ago, that had almost cost him everything. So, his point was this – why, when it came to the crunch, did his meditation have no effect in the rough and tumble of daily life? First of all, of course, he freely admitted that things would have even been a lot worse had he not been meditating. As I said to him, at the very least, he is one of a small minority of people who are fully aware of their thoughts and fully aware when what they are thinking is unhelpful or damaging.

But the key point is that, unless you put what you learn in Please Login or Register to see the link. into the moment to moment living of your everyday life, you will not get the downstream and all-important benefits of clarity, focus and presence of mind. Of course, you don’t wait until everything goes wrong to start putting what you have learned in meditation into practice – you have to do it when things are just normal. It’s pretty much like training for a big match – you train in advance to ensure that you can play your best on the day.

This training consists of regularly checking your state of mind throughout the day – every day. If things are simply running normally, chances are that your mind will be wandering and distracted – after all, this is the normal adult default state of mind. Research shows that the normal adult pays just one percent attention to what is going on when all is running smoothly. Obviously, this level of commitment to your life is not going to create a great life – and this is why normal people tend to be “not-too-bad”. As a result of this, however, the ordinary of everyday life presents us with the perfect training ground. Simply stop yourself every-so-often during the day and become aware of whether you are clear, present and focused or not – how you feel when you meditate will be your benchmark for comparative purposes.

If you’re not in a clear and present state of mind, bring yourself back to that state by coming back to now. Practically speaking, this means that you take a few moments to pay full attention to the here and now – you could stop and focus your sight, feeling, hearing, senses of smell and taste on the moment in question, or you could simply take and fully experience a few deep breaths. Our contact with the here and now – and the opportunity it provides us with to live our ordinary lives extraordinarily – is through (and only through) our five senses. You need to come to your senses!

And, if you do this when nothing stressful is happening in your day, you will be fit and ready to be at your best when things actually do go wrong.
